My Dad, whom I admire for many reasons, was my initial inspiration for picking up a camera in the early 1990's, although the bug didn't truly bite until I finally went digital with a Canon Digital Rebel in early 2004. Beginning with photographic documentation of my dentistry, inspired especially by Dr. Ross Nash, then moving into portraiture with inspiration from Dr. Tony Soileau and Dr. Michael Barr, and finally realizing the freedom that digital provided, I have slowly evolved from a rank amateur to the dental and photographic professional of today.
I've been blessed to be part of TWO professions that are making leaps and bounds forward with technology, and the power of digital photography is only growing.
The simple power of the picture, instantly captured and displayed, to improve and enhance the doctor-patient trust relationship, is far greater than most realize. The power of portraiture to give patients with a new smile that look they've always wished they had......talk about rewarding! And to capture the amazing beauty of this world on which we live, to show it to others in ways they have never before seen or imagined, is a true pleasure.
Since early 2007, I have been inspired by many amazing photographers, both within dentistry and within the professional photographic world, and have therefore stretched my wings into creative macro, landscape, and portrait arenas.
Photography, like dentistry, is truly an art of communication, and while it might not seem apparent at first glance, they really share a common goal: uplifting the human spirit through personal care. In dentistry, my team and I care for the dental health of our patients; in photography, the artistic muse in me hopes to touch the soul of the viewer and let them see the amazing beauty in the world around us.
